Professional Inspections | FDIS Diploma (Dip) & FireQual qualified | Isle of Wight coverage

EVERY CRITICAL ELEMENT CHECKED
What We Inspect
Our fire door inspections assess the condition and performance of each door to ensure it can function correctly in the event of a fire.
We carry out a thorough visual and functional inspection of accessible components, identifying defects, damage or non-compliance that could compromise fire safety, including:
- Fire door condition and integrity
- Door gaps, seals, tolerances and clearances
- Hinges, closers and ironmongery
- Door leaf and frame
- Self-closing performance
- Signs of damage or poor installation
- Overall door operation
Where issues are identified, these are clearly recorded with photographic evidence and prioritised within the inspection report to support informed decision-making and compliance.

FIRE DOOR COMPLIANCE
Are Your Fire Doors Safe?
If you are a building owner, landlord, managing agent or designated Responsible Person, you have a legal duty to ensure that fire doors are properly maintained and function as intended.
Fire door inspections help demonstrate that fire doors are in good condition, appropriate for their location, and capable of performing correctly in the event of a fire. Regular inspections also support ongoing fire risk assessments, audits and insurance requirements.
Our fire door inspections are carried out in line with current UK fire safety guidance and best practice, including:
- The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022
- BS 8214:2016 (timber-based fire door assemblies)
- Approved Document B
- Manufacturer and certification guidance
If you’re unsure what applies to your building or how often inspections are required, we’re happy to help explain this in clear, practical terms.

How often do fire doors need inspecting?
As a general guide, fire doors should be checked regularly, with formal inspections typically carried out at least every 6 months. Higher-risk environments may require more frequent checks, depending on use and occupancy.
What does a fire door inspection include?
A door-by-door visual and functional check, gap measurements, inspection of seals and key components (hinges, closers, ironmongery), and a written report with photos and prioritised actions.
Do you fix the doors as well?
Where required, we can provide guidance on remedial works and discuss available options. Inspections and any remedial works are treated as separate services, and there is no obligation to use us for any recommended repairs.
What will I receive after the survey?
A clear inspection report with pass/fail outcomes for each door, photographic evidence, and a summary of urgent, recommended and advisory actions.
Who are your inspections suitable for?
We work with landlords, managing agents, residential blocks and HMOs, care settings, schools, public buildings, and commercial and industrial premises.
If you’re unsure whether an inspection is suitable for your building, please get in touch.
Is the report a guarantee of future condition?
The report reflects what is visible and accessible on the day of inspection. Fire doors can change over time due to use, damage or alteration, so ongoing checks and maintenance are important to ensure continued performance.
What areas do you cover?
All of the Isle of Wight, including Ryde, Newport, Cowes, Sandown, Shanklin, Ventnor, Freshwater and surrounding areas.
